We are delighted to announce our celebration of the rich and diverse culture of Africa will be held in Aberdeen this spring to promote African heritage and improve cultural diversity in Scotland.
Working in partnership with International School Aberdeen (ISA), the event, The Spirit of Africa, will be the first of its kind in Aberdeen.
Hosted and sponsored by ISA, the event will take guests on a journey through the rich history and culture of the African continent featuring a vibrant evening of performances to mark the socio-historical connection between Africa and Scotland.
The Spirit of Africa is our launchpad for The Africulture Network – and our group of passionate professionals are dedicated to showcasing African heritage at its best in Scotland.
Mavis Anagboso, Vice-Chair of The Africulture Network, said, “The Spirit of Africa is set to be a very special evening at ISA celebrating all that is unique about the African heritage.
“Africa has a lot of hidden gems buried in ancient history and the event will provide a forum, for both Africans and non-Africans, to learn about the traditions, talent, music and food of this great continent.
“We are thrilled to bring an event of this scale to Aberdeen to project our voices, our culture and our unique history.”
International School Aberdeen, which is celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary this year, said it was honoured to work in collaboration with The Africulture Network to bring an event promoting cultural infusion to Aberdeen.

The Spirit of Africa’s line up will include a host of talented cultural groups featuring the Aberdeen African choir and a journey through Africa with music and by the cast of Shona the Musical.
Guests will enjoy a fusion of African and Scottish cuisine with a three-course dinner followed by a presentation of African fashion with models showcasing a variety of clothing.
The event will also include a performance by award-winning saxophonist artist, YolanDa Brown, OBE, who will play an eclectic mix of reggae, jazz and soul.
